[Solved] 1999 Corolla Timing Belt Misaligned

Hi Scotty and Friends

I have a 1999 AE112R Toyota Corolla, 160,000 kms (100,000 Miles) 1.8 litre, no codes as is pre OBDII, automatic transmission that has excessive vibration at idle. I checked the timing at 750RPM and it is around 15 Degrees I believe it should be 10 Degrees.

The old lady I bought it off recently had the timing belt replaced and I think it is one or two teeth out.

Does anyone have a quick method of realigning the cam sprocket without doing a full timing belt replacement proceedure?

Many thanks in advance.

you can try but it's very hard to get the timing tensioner loose and then readjust that it's better to take it all apart and reset it with the whole front timing assembly off
