i am looking at a 2000 accord it has 188,000 miles its been sitting for about 8 months all it needs are rear tires
and a new battery
it needs an upper radiator hose and a transmission speed sensor
Make sure you have a mechanic check it out first. If it has been sitting it will likely need more than tires. (i.e. gas is probably bad, fluids may be bad, rodents, etc.)
Well, … borrow a battery from a friend - never mind a tires for this, start it, look around, drive it around a block! If you’re impressed, decide if you want to invest $100-150 for an independent inspection. If inspection says, "car is good for another year of driving, at least", … take a flyer at it: $1,500 + $150 inspection, … divided by 12, … real cheap transportation for one year, if you ask me!
F.S.
Love the math here.
… well, it’s only $63.46 bi-weekly! And if it lasts longer than a year, … re-math it for more spectacular results!
Ah so now we are doing bi-weekly typical Canadian calculations?
have a mechanic check it out and check the fulids
I’ve got a 1999 Honda Accord at 270K. Amazing cars.
The one you are looking at seems like an ok to a good deal depending where you live, and assuming everything checks out.
I recommended checking to make sure the timing belt is still good. Otherwise factor that into a maintenance expense.
The transmissions on those cars are pretty weak make sure to have it checked out by a mechanic.
