Hi Scotty, thank you for all your informative videos. I have a 2000 Morgan 8 Roadster with a Rover 8 cylinder engine (8,000 miles) located in Florida. I have Mobil 1 Synthetic with low miles. I’m on the West Coast and planning on visiting the car next month. My question is: would the cylinder walls be sufficiently coated with the Mobil 1 synthetic, after sitting for 1 year to safely start the engine without causing damage? My thought is that the synthetic oil would remain coating the cylinder after 1 year. Am I right? Thank you for taking the time to respond. Bill
That car looks hard to find on this continent (and beautiful). I would want to be extra careful with it.
If you really want to baby the engine and keep it going as long as possible, then you should minimize the amount of cold start metal on metal wear. I would put some oil through the spark plug holes before starting up. Looks like engine access should be pretty good on these cars.
