Rust damaged brake line blew a hole. By the time I got the truck home where I could work on it, the reservoir was near empty. Changed out the line, topped up the fluid after bleeding at all four corners. Road test produced dragging brakes. Tripped ABS controller? Unable to get reset by doing the "jam on brakes" technique. Would be graciously grateful for constructive advice.
If one line was rusted through, the other aren't far behind. Sticking brakes is a sign of restriction. The rubber lines can fail as well causing this issue. My advice is to replace all of them.
It's been more than two years since the event, so I'll be sure to check the other lines when I attempt the reset w/ the Innova although there was no sign of rust on the other lines noticed prviously.. Appreciate the advice.
Do an enhanced diagnostic scan (Blue Driver, Innova or MX Plus scanner) and see what DTCs come up. That might offer up a clue. Or take it to a true diagnostic mechanic who has a bi-directional scan tool, and see if the reset can be done with the scan tool (or from a GM-specific tool or resource).
Thanx much for your rapid response.. Yeah, pretty much the route I've decided I must take. Would like to avoid dealer serv. dept if possible. That Innova 5160RS that Scotty's been flashing will be the one I buy. It's bi-directional, so assume that's within the capabilities. ABS is one of a buncha features it touts. Need a newer one anyway, old eyes having a tough time with the display on my ten year old Actron that still has cables I never needed to use.
Thanx again for the response and input Will try to post my pass/fail results after I've rec'd an used my new tooyl. {black}:grinning:
