Should I fix my 2001 Honda Accord?

My 2001 Honda Accord EX 6 cylinder 3.0 .

THE SHORT VERSION

It's been in and out of mechanic all 2022. First trouble was  TCS Light which I ignored and Check Engine light came on (flickering and solid randomly and then started running rough, having trouble shifting. I added transmission fluid to no avail. Was advised to change out the transmission fluid which was bad advise and made problem worse. I bought a used transmission and had it put in mid-December. On the drive home, the TCS light and check engine light came on and these are what my code reader detected yesterday:

Stored Codes:

P0306 (cylinder 6 misfire - Replace Exhaust Recirculation (EGR) Valve and clean all EGR ports

P1298 Electrical Load Detector Circuit High Input

P0301 Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected

P0302 Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected

P0304 Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected

P0401 EGR System Insufficient Flow Detected

P0300 Multiple Misfire Detected

Pending:

P0401 Again

P1399 Misfire in any cylinder

HERE'S MY @ QUESTIONS:

1. And I'm a little paranoid that the TCR code might have some connection to my transmission and ruin my transmission again which I cannot afford. These repairs are a huge hit on my poverty income!

2. What do you advise me to do about the codes and TCS light and Check engine light? I'm inclined to ignore the TCS light, get the EGR valve R/R and hope for the best. Thank you for your channel, your YouTube videos and your great sense of humor!

THE LONG VERSION:

  • The history is it's been a great car until my husband died (October 2021. shortly after he drove it from Austin to the far side of Arkansas and back with no problems); he took care of the maintenance or any repairs (no major ones).
  • Last January I took it to get oil changed at a new-to-me place (I'd moved to a new town). they didn't say anything about any issues and said they checked all the fluids. Shortly after, the TCS light started coming on, flickering at times, solid at others.  I intuited it was low on transmission flued via the dipstick, so I went to O-Reilly and got what they recommended and put some in. All this time, it still drove fine so I kept driving it. It gradually started driving rough, and by May it was pretty bad: having trouble shifting out of 1st gear, jerking, hesitating, and eventually barely able to go after stopping at stops signs but generally doing great in the higher gears on the highway. This whole time the TCS light was on, plus the Check Engine light came on.
  • In June a guy friend convinced me to change the transmission fluid (in hindsight a horrible mistake!), so he helped me with that...disaster. We took it for a test drive and realized it was much worse, so he stopped. He checked the error codes and we didn't see anything initially about engine/misfiring, just transmission errors, to the best of my recollection.
  • So I took it to a mechanic who said it just needed new coils bc some were misfiring ($490) so I had them do that. NO IMPROVEMENT (no refund, either!). Then I took it to another mechanic that a friend referred me to and he said it was a transmission problem which was verified via the dealership that I took it to.
  • I tried to sell it with full disclosure on ebay and sold it twice but both buyers failed to make payment, so I decided it was the Lord's will that I keep the car. I bought a salvaged transmission from a salvage yard in Louisiana (via ebay with warranty) and had a local mechanic do the labor in December 2022 (last month). Runs great now, except...
  • Immediately after I picked it up from the mechanic, the TCS lights and Check Engine lights are on again with the codes indicating several misfiring coils/sparkplugs/whatever they're called and a bad EGR valve!

I forgot to include the mileage (195K) and it's an automatic transmission. Still looks great! Doesn't look like a 22 year old car!

The motor and transmission are on its last legs. Time to move on to something else.

Thank you for your input. I forgot to mention I CAN"T AFFORD another car at this time. This is my only car. I just put a new-to-me transmission in it and the engine is great (except for those pesky error codes). My former husband was great at buying decent cars for $300 -$2000 but I don't have his connections any more. I would agree with you if I had another form of transportation (other than my boots).
