Hi Scotty. I have a 2002 4Runner SR5 4WD with just over 200,000k miles on it. I bought it in May with 190,800 miles, and I drove it all summer in Montana making long drives consistently. At the end of the summer however, after 10 hours of driving, the truck tripped a P0770 code, malfunction of shift solenoid E on the transmission valve body. I erased the code and it has not come back in about 600 miles, and my mechanic says it is likely nothing to worry about unless the code trips again. What are your thoughts? I am 22 and intend on keeping this truck for many decades to come, and I am trying to do my best to keep it in the best shape possible.
Clarification: Is your transmission fluid at the correct level? Also, what condition is the fluid in (color? dirty? Smell burnt? Any metallic particles?)
I would drop the pan on a transmission clean it and replace the fluid and filter. Illinois can often stick a fluid is dirty
Hi Scotty, I have a 2003 Pontiac Vibe with this issue. However, it does have some shifting issues dealing with over drive. I cannot find the part number to order this shift solenoid e for this error to replace it. I need to drive a couple thousand miles in just over a week from now. How can I find more information about this procedure, the part, where to order etc? Can the part be interchanged with the Toyota Matrix part? I watch all of your videos. I have seen your Matrix, but haven't seen any videos related to this. Does anyone have links to any videos related to this for the Vibe or the Matrix? Thank you so much! You are the best! Heather
