Hey Scotty, incoming from Canada!

Are there any serious problems associated with this certain car? Also is it worth buying if the previous owner maintained it properly but has high mileage?

Thanks in advance 🙂

I had the same car 02 tl type s I got it with under 80k miles years ago the car was fantastic fast fun and it looked so good on that blue paint but I don’t remember when it happen how many miles I think it was after 100k the tranny start slipping I forget what gear it was so I had to drive it on tiptronic and when before changing gears let off the gas and then change gear and then give it gas like manual but with out the clutch it lasted for half a year like that until it gears stopped getting engaged. So then I found a used low miles I think it was under 50k transmission automatic and that lasted for a year and then same problem I was fed up with the car and a family friend wanted so bad even with the red flags of me changing the tranny and the new tranny slipping out of gear. So what I learned from the Acura TL type s they have tranny problem they start from 2001 to 2004 when the body changed but it was the first generation of that body type. So what i learn the type s 01-03 make little more hp and torque that regular tl and they have the same tranny but the problem here is the transmission doesn’t have a transmission cooler from factory so what my cousin did he rebuild the transmission him self he put an aftermarket transmission cooler and that car now it has over 200k miles. My opinion stay away from that car unless you don’t mind getting stranded or you getting it dirt cheap like less than 2000 rebuild the transmission and also get a transmission cooler. Unless the owner has done tranny flush every 50k 60k but if it has over 100k and fluid never changed and you end up changing it at that high of miles you going to do more damage bc those metals that are shredded are keeping the gears together  even if you put a tranny cooler your self it won’t help bc the transmission fluid is already burned. You got two options stay away from second generation and also early third generation friend if mine had an 04 and tranny went to shit in the middle of the high way with only 70k miles.

You didn't say how many miles it was or anything but those cars and basically Hondas and are great lil cars. As long as the milage isn't insanely high like over 200k then you should be fine and those cars can go 400-500k if taken care of. But it is a 18 year old car so don't pay too much for it.
