2002 Toyota Sequoia Timing Belt, water pump, tensioner replacement cost

How much should it cost me to replace timing belt, water pump, tensioner for 2002 toyota sequoia.

I'm in Riverside, Pomona area in California.

A few mechanics quoted me around $950 to $1100. One said $650. But the shop looks a little shady.

They told me parts are around $400 to $500.

I have found the kits online for $160 to $200 with warranty.

If anyone know how much it should cost or any reputable mechanics in that area. Please let me know.

Thank you

I would be leary of anyone using cheaper aftermarket parts to save on cost. It is a big job and it needs to be done once and done right! I would think a toyota dealer would be about $800 to 1000 range and they should giive you a 12mo/12k miles warranty on the service. Independents a little less BUT use true OEM parts.

That sounds about right for a timing belt, water pump, tensioner replacement.

I was getting quoted from $700-$1200 for a 1999 Honda Accord to do the same thing.

When I saw the price, I was like there is no way it cost that much to do it. That's too much.  So I did it myself.  It was a PITA.  It took me WAYYYYY tooo long.

Believe me, unless you are mechanically inclined, it would be well worth the expensive price to have a professional component honest mechanic to do it.  I do recommend price comparing with the Dealer.  Some Dealers may be be comparable.

PS I agree with the comment above, make sure they use OEM parts.

The mechanic is also getting the same parts from either Aisen or Gates. But way more expensive from their "vendor". The online kits also comes with warranty.
I understand it would cost some money. That's fine. but 700 to 1200 is a huge range. In reality, doing it for an Accord is not much different from a Sequoia.
