My ford ranger dies everytime I stop and my oil pressure Guage goes up and down when I stop as well.
Well I would assume the oil pressure goes up and down cuz the engine's going up and down installing. Start with the simple stuff like look for vacuum leaks check the spark plugs air filter fuel filter and pray it's not some kind of engine internal problem with actual oil pressure loss that will eventually destroy the engine
Ok thanks so much and one more thing my catalytic converter been acting up for some time now. Do you think that has something to do with it?
I saw your catalytic converter question back to Scotty. Yes, a catalytic converter could possibly be the cause of your problem. If your converter is clogging up or broken inside, then the higher exhaust pressure when the engine is revving up can push exhaust out, but when it's idling the pressure isn't enough to get it out and the engine suffocates. Do you have any check engine codes? I ran out of gas in my 1999 3.0 Ranger a month ago and my oil gauge did the exact same thing as the engine died. Get a rubber mallet and lightly hit the converter housing. If you hear rattling, yours is deteriorated inside. If not, try to take it off or watch Scotty's video on how to diagnose clogged catalytic converters with pressure gauges.
I haven't taken it to auto zone to check any codes but it sounds like it's rattling inside. I just turned it on and now my rpm is a little higher but im let it warm up again and see if it does the same thing
