I started with a major leak on the passenger side of engine. After a complete water pump and kit job, that was fixed. Went to replace the coolant temperature sensor because of what my mechanic recommended after they did the pump/kit. When replacing sensor on drivers side, I noted a thermostat gasket leak. After replacing the gasket, and verifying proper thermostat position, I put everything back together. I then found no leaks, and no codes being thrown, and even no dummy light in the dash.
However, my radiator fan wont turn on. I grabbed my alligator clips, and hooked the fan up directly to the battery. The fan came right on, so I knew that was good. I then shifted the cooling fan relay with matching relays from the horn and dome light, but the fan never came on. I have attempted to find my cooling fan switch, to no avail. I have inquired about this item with my local parts shop, and they tell me that may coolant temperature sensor does this job as well. They have assured me my vehicle doesn't have a cooling fan switch, but that leaves me with no parts left to test.
At this point, I feel that I either need to boil test my thermostat to make sure it works properly. I have verified the part moves, but not tested it. If this test doesn't show a faulty part, then I'm worried I'm left with a wiring issue. I don't have the knowhow to testing the wires, nor do I have the funds to pay someone to do it. That leads me to the idea of installing my own universal fan temperature switch, but I'm trying to avoid this option.
Any suggestions on what else I can do here would be greatly appreciated. I watch your channel on YouTube regularly, and have put several of your recommendations to practice.
Thanks,
Casey
Heck, you could just put a toggle switch on to run the stupid fans. If they run all the time. The car won't overheat. Of course. That's if you only have an airflow problem. If there's another problem in the car will read anyways. But many guys will just wire them to run all the time with the toggle switch doesn't hurt anything and the tiny tiny fraction of extra fuel it uses to spin. The fan is pretty much negligible
