Simply put, I found a 2003 Mazda 6 with 110k+ mikes on it that’s in phenomenal condition, no rust, and almost no body damage whatsoever (And it looks great!)
So my biggest question is, (besides avoiding common scams), is this a good idea? This will be my second car, and the first car that I will own.
If not (or you have other suggestions too), what would be some reliable cars that are within the price range of about $3-$4k?
Thanks!
Their not bad cars but they generally don't hold up as well as some others. Keep up with the maintenance and fluid changes and stuff and it should last you a while.

My father owned an '06 Mazda 6 and liked it quite a bit! The only problems he ran into was coolant occasionally leaking and the automatic transmission shifting rough. It wasn't a very comfortable car but pretty reliable and sporty. Overall, sounds like a solid purchase given the criteria.
Every Mazda I've owned, the automatic transmission was really iffy. Definitely go for the manual.
If you are looking for a comfortable and solid built car, an early 2000s Toyota Camry or Lexus ES300 is where it's at.
I think it is too much money for 17 years old Mazda and as the above comments say, you can find a better car with Toyota or Honda that can outlast this Mazda by far without specific issues.
