Looking to buy a 2003 Porsche Boxster with 93k miles for 12k. Has the 2.7 with the 5 speed manual. Is this worth it or am I buying a money pit?

Clarification: Price?

Its listed for $12,000 but I'd try and get it for $10,000.

It's only worth it if you've won the lottery.  Good luck

Pass on it - money pit looking for a poor soul to feed off of.  See below:

It's a German sports car. Of course it's a money pit.

Hope you have lots to spend on parts, because any repairs and maintenance is going to be expensive

@Kaizen has it right. It will be expensive to maintain, and if you're going to buy an old Porsche with high miles and pay through the nose on repairs, you may as well get the real deal 911.

That said, just to clarify, I would NOT recommend doing that if you have any sort of budget to work with. High mileage Porsches....and some modern not-so-high mileage ones....can cost a small fortune to repair.

In my experience, Porsches are well built and don't break down much. BUT...it only takes one issue to cause financial ruin. I would look at other options.

If it were a 2003 Porsche 911 at that price, I’d be interested. But for a Boxter, no.

Unless you know what you are doing in regards to fixing cars, or have extra money to spend fixing it up, I wouldn’t buy it. Those cars are usually driven pretty hard so if you decide to get it, have a mechanic check it out.
