I have a 2003 Silverado with 337000 miles and needs an oil pump wich is a 1-2000 dollar job. Should I just replace the motor. It’s a 5.3 with an automatic that I had replaced last year

The Transmission was replaced

Make sure the frame is still good and maybe get a 2nd opinion? If the oil light comes on, check the pressure with a mechanical gauge that can be rented at AutoZone.

The lifters tick a little once it goes below a certain PSI. I had the same problem in my 2005 5.3 and I replaced it and I didn’t hear it again

That doesn't mean that the cause is the same. With that kind of mileage it might be something like worn cam bearings.

You're gambling with a used engine. It could be an oil burner, etc. Your grammar's kind of hard to understand. Did you replace the transmission last year?

How do you know it needs a new oil pump? It's not a common failure.

If it's gonna cost you $1-$2k for an oil pump job then I would Replace the engine. How is the tranny? Is that original as well or u replaced it?
