I have a 2004 ford f150. Has abou 150k on it with a 5.7L engine. 4x4. This truck starts and runs great but once you drive for a bit and come to a stop it dies and will not restart until we jump it with another car. Sometimes it will run fine point A to point B. It randomly dies but always when coming to a stop. I've read a lot about dying at stops but the thing that doesnt make sense to me is that it needs a jump start. I would think if it's one of the issues I've read about it would just be a bad part to replace, but I'm my case I get a jumpstart and it goes back to normal. Sometimes if you use 2 feet and keep the idle up a bit more than normal it helps it from dying, but not always. Also when jumping, it takes about 5 minutes of sitting with cables connected before it will start. It's not the normal quick jumpstart Up to now, theres a pretty good list of what I have done so far:
New battery
New alternator
New starter.
Good belt with good tension
Cleaned up all ground wires for good connection
New spark plugs
New coils
Sorry for the long post but i tried to include as much info as I can and be as clear as I could. I appreciate everyone's time with help on this issue.
Thanks
Andy
Sounds like there is a dead short somewhere in the circuit. Nothing else would drain a new battery that fast.
Was the alternator brand new or reman?
