2004 honda crv 5 speed manual
Hey Scotty. Got a 2004 Honda CRV manual trans. Live in the north east and dealing with rust my muffler finally severed from my exhaust. I took the muffler off bc it was banging around over bumps. Is this dangerous? I’ve never smelt smoke, its been severed for months but finally came off. Its not too loud. I do notice that my RPMs drop to about 800 at idle when i am in neutral. I dont want to pay for a new exhaust and it didnt seem reattachable due to the rust so i just took it off. Thanks for all your helo! My main concern is CO in the cabin. I am good on inspection till feb of ‘24
With exhaust exiting underneath the car you could well wind up inhaling carbon monoxide. I guess you could put a battery powered CO detector in the car but considering the potential consequences include death it would be best to have your exhaust system fixed.
And your question is? I assume that you are wondering if you should repair your cars exhaust system.? Yes...Fix It! Carbon Monoxide is dangerous!
You say that without the muffler, your car is not too loud. I have never heard one yet that was not loud.
Plus, if you are planning to keep your car you will need to have it repaired before the next inspection so get 'er done now.
If you live where you can be ticketed for not having a muffler, you will avoid that headache and paying a fine in addition to the cost of repairs. See?
