2005 Honda Element With a Bad Clutch

Hello,

I have a 2005 AWD Honda Element and last summer I replaced the clutch that had about 130,000 miles on it. I replaced the flywheel, disk, pressure plate, pilot bushing, release bearing and master and slave cylinders.  The new clutch tended to make a popping noise on disengagement and occasionally grabs on engagement causing the car to lurch.  Unfortunately, it can't be driven like this.  So I replaced the clutch fork and pivot ball.  It is now essentially a completely new clutch system now but the problem persists.  I belive that the Exidy clutch kit I installed has a defective pressure plate because there's nothing else to be at fault.  A Google search yields little in the way of others with similar experience.  Please advise.  Thank you.

Please do not double post, and allow the original post to work its way through the system even though it can be slow at times. Thank you.

Hmmmm. FYI, the first post returned an unknown error when the web page refreshed. Luckily, I saved the text but not permanently. I was not inclined to wait and retype all that I said.  If this happens again next time, I'll check back in 10 minutes and delete the redundant posting.

Could be the release bearing not sliding on the trans input shaft properly.  Or the clutch disc put in backwards.  I've seen it happen.  I don't think I've ever seen a pressure plate do this.

Thanks for the prompt reply. The disk is installed correctly with the "T/M side" stamp facing outwards - towards the transmission. The release bearing that came with the kit was a cheap Chinese unit that was actually over-bored and caused rattling so I replaced it with a better Timken bearing made in Japan. No more rattling but the popping and grabbing persists. The required grease was added to the housing extension so won't hang/bind there.
