Scotty...I have a 2005 kia sedona, 162.5k, 3.5l v6, automatic...was driving on highway and suddenly kicked out of 5th gear and check engine light popped...pulled code P0735...checked trans fluid and was definitely a light brown color...i bought it with 145k and i highly doubt trans fluid has ever been changed...drove it about 40 miles after i let it sit for a few hours no more than 55mph...no issues...other gears seemed to shift fine...is it safe to assume i should change the fluid? I know you say never to flush so i was just gonna change it...also says could be speed sensor...thanks
It does not seems to be from the speed sensor. I would change the fluid if it is not dirty and does not have burnt smell in it. If it meets these two criteria, then drain the oil fluid in a clean container and add the same amount you drained using a new fluid and pray the transmission does not slip. If it did, replace the fluid with the old one.
