2006 Aveo codes make no sense

Hey Scotty I have a 2006 Aveo hatchback 48,000 mi runs like a top  All of a sudden it occasionally had a misfire when I used an octane booster my Ii nthe ago.  Stopped at after a few full tanks of gas.  I finally went to O'Reilly's and to AutoZone got two different scans and AutoZone said I need a head gasket replacement  no leaks at all!  And the oil gasket replacement from the area that surrounds the spark plugs holes and all that, which I had replaced oh about 5 years ago when it was barely leaking. O'Reilly says I have code p0340 intake camshaft position sensor  2/3 stored ,and "p0016 camshaft position not plausible"... And a misfire code, p0300.....1/3 stored, DTC severity 2/3 repeatedly stored.    Makes it sound like the car should not start or run. But it does.  There was some mention of a week fuel pump as well.  Makes no sense. Car starts, run nearly perfectly, can these sensors be related to a weak 2 yr old battery.??  Could the misfire that now rarely happens be due to cheap spark wires??  Or Very... little driving?  What's goin on?  Can it just be a weak battery?  The Lack of any high speed driving?  Help....runs and looks great...Just want to keep it going.  Love my simple easy to repair car.  Any ideas?????

Auto parts stores will tell you a lot of things because they want to sell your parts.  They are NOT qualified or certified auto mechanics.  Do not rely on auto parts stores to diagnose problems with your car.  Find a qualified, independent mechanic.

You might need to take the car to a good independet shop for diagnosis. To rule out the charging system effects, load test the battery and alternator.

If it runs good I would clear all the codes and give it a nice long hard drive to see what comes back first, if anything. Often the first problem will cause the subsequent ones. Have the battery and alternator load tested at AutoZone or O'Reilly's because a problem with either can cause all sorts of weird trouble codes. Check to see if you're loosing coolant which is a good indicator of a blown head gasket. The fuel pressure can be checked easily with a scan tool or gauge.

Yes, older cars that sit for long periods of time and aren't driven much will develop problems.

I would suggest that the camshaft position sensor should be replaced....P0016 can give issues to cause the P0340 to come up. Also check to make sure the connections are tight fit, no cracks or loose...and the wires, too.

Thanks for the multiple replies.  Had the battery and alternator load tested everything came back working perfectly.... I'm not losing any coolant I'm not losing any oil nothing's mixing together making a nice foamy malted mess in my engine.... To indicate any internally at all..... So I'm going out right now to pull all the plugs and pull all the wires and see if the spark plugs perhaps I didn't install them tightly enough or maybe one of the wires is broken even though they're brand new.  Other than that it runs like a top and it never sits for more than a day or two I just don't drive it much three or four miles a day and that's about it.
