2006 chevy hhr 2.2 ecotech misfire, manual

its a long story, but my engine is misfiring a little while after my radiator hose bursted. i repaired it with extreme tape until i could get it fixed. It started leaking on my alternator causing it to stall. i would keep reving it in order for it not to stall in traffic. When i finally got it parked, tried to repair the hose a little better to get home. i got another boost and let it charge for about 15 minutes, then it drove home no problem, about 80 blocks it drove before it started struggling to keep running, i would have to keep reving it or speed up to keep it going. When i tried to drive it the next day i noticed it was much weaker acceleration and barely any power, when i tried to speed up passed 50 km/hr the engine light started flashing. i pulled over driving slowly then the light stopped flashing so i drove it home slowly and made it back without it flashing again. i took the tape off my radiator hose exposing the big hole to get it ready to take off the next day when the new hose came in. Next day i changed my hose, took it for a spin and still misfiring. i also had a slow oil leak from the engine nozel for about a year or so, which the lid would tap a little enough to loosen the neck allowing oil to mist spray little by little every day. u can tell that the oil leak was from the oil cap neck because that is where the only evidence showing where oil was leaking and oily. A cpl quarts would last a cpl weaks and never had any issues. i did replace the tray to hold the lid in place. i thn found oil on my spark plugs twice after cleaning them, did a compression test and it still misfires. Can you tell me what is causing it to misfire? Please and thank you

there shouldn't be oil coming out of the filler neck, or on the spark plugs. Replace your PCV valve.

oh really?? Thanks buddy i appreciate it, i will do that

i seen videos that say there is no pcv valve on chevy hhr's

Do HHR's have a PCV valve and where is it located? I was told they dont have PCV valves

Which engine do you have? 2006 MY came with either 2.2L I4 (Ecotec L61) or 2.4L I4 (Ecotec LE5).

Do Chevy HHR's 2.2 eco tech have a PCV valve and where is it located?

They are typically in the valve covers

Thanks and just to make sure, i can take the bolts all the way out right? To get the valve cover off? They're not torque yielding bolts or ones that im not suppose to take all the way out of the hole, are they?

don't take the valve covers off . Just look for tubes or valves that stick out of it and make sure they're clear.

Can i take my valve cover bolts all the way out though? the 10 mm bolts that bolt it down all around the outside of the cover, the ones with rubber washers? i seen everybody else doing it on other videos, but not sure if i can with mine, just making sure, because they are easy to loosen, but then i need a wrench after unscrewing all the bolts about an inch. Just making sure cause i want to look inside. Also i seen the photo with the line on the left hand side of the throttle body. but my oil mist leak is on the right side of it, right below the engine cap where the neck twists off to take out. Thats why i was thinking the leak came from there, cause the plastic intake cover with air filter on top of the engine did not have the rubber stoppers to keep in place so it taps it lose, everytime i speed up or slow down. and the neck(nozzle) is only a half a turn to twist out and that was the only thing keeping it in place

For the 2.2L I4 in a 2006 HHR, see link below (Post #3):  looks like that engine does not use a normal PCV valve, it accomplishes the same effect by other means.
