My wife recently passed away last week. We have two cars, a 2006 Ford Five Hundred SEL V6 with 85,000 miles on it, the other car is a 2001 Toyota Solara SE V6 with 198,000 miles on it. Both care in pretty good condition for the age. The Toyota Solara needs a little bit of deferred maintenance, such as timing belt replacement, shocks replaced, alternator replaced other than that an all-around good vehicle. The 2006 Ford Fivehundred also needs a little maintenance done shocked replaced, tune-up that is not ever had over the course of its years on the road, transmission mount, and motor mounts replaced. My question is I do not have a need for both cars at this time. Which one should I keep, the Toyota was bought last year from a mechanic close to where I live, and the Ford has been in the family since it was brand new. The Toyota has more mileage on it than the Ford so I am a little stuck as to which one to keep and which one to let go of. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
If there is nothing seriously wrong with the Ford, I would keep it and take care of it, since you had it since it was new. It is more practical than the Solara as well. Don't get me wrong, that Toyota van last a long time but you need to sped some money on it because of the age and also neglected maintenance.
