Hi Scotty, I just recently bought a fixer upper 2006 Lexus gs300 automatic trans with roughly 165,000 miles. The brakes barely worked at all. I've done a little research, and I am getting C1201, C1223, and C1241 codes which all have to do with the ABS system. I replaced the master cylinder and got a little more braking power, but when I tried to bleed the brakes hardly anything would bleed out. The alternator is also bad so I was wondering if the bad alternator could be the cause of a malfunction in the ABS module that causes the brakes to not build pressure, or is it the brake pressure is so bad that it's tripping codes for the ABS module?
If it is the ABS module, would I need to have a high end scan tool or software to reprogram a used ABS module from the same model car to replace mine?
You need a high-end bidirectional scan tool to bleed the brakes.
I've been considering getting the Autel MaxiCOM MK808Z. Will this be able to do what I need?
No idea, you'd have to check with the manufacturer for compatibility and specifically whether it can manipulate the ABS module in your vehicle to set it up for bleeding.
