Hello Scotty!!!
I have a 2006 Toyota Tundra limited 4.7l, I bought it a few months ago, since I didn't know how well the previus owner maintained, I have been doing all types of maintenance to it, it has 220,000 miles.
yesterday I got it from a mechanic that changed the timing belt, pulleys, seals, tensioner, water pump, all japanese.
but as soon as started it makes a weird sound, it idles almost like listening to a diesel engine, i have checked the timing and it is right on spot.
There is no check engine light on (and it works), there is no chaking or misfire sensation, just the noise.
It didn't make the sound before the changes.
I have no clue what could it be, please help!
The procedure is to first remove all the belts then swirl each pulley or anything that revolves via the belt to feel for any roughness. If okay then start the engine and see if then the noise appears or can be heard. Now sometimes because a pulley or anything which does not have tension on it will not emit any noise even though its the defective item. But you have to try these basic tests to see what cause and effect they do in regards to this noise.
