I’ve got an auto 2007 Lexus is250 awd with 206k miles. Purchased it a month ago, everything has been decent did notice sometimes the tranny was slow to shift into/more so out of 3rd gear; no check engine or issues. Last week short drive to a friends house, car sat for a couple hours started it up with check vsc and check engine. Had the codes scanned came back with p0761- shift solenoid c and p2714- pressure control solenoid D. Tranny shop advised to change all solenoids and valve body-estimated $3k not including time to get the back ordered parts. Help! I’m going to be swapping the fluid and crossing my fingers, any suggestions?
Since possible causes for both codes include dirty transmission fluid and/or filter, I would start with the simplest thing and change those to see if that helps.
Check condition of the old fluid first to make sure it isn't burnt and gritty, as in not ever having being changed. In that case the friction surfaces are probably worn out, with the dirt and grit all that's letting the clutches and bands get a grip.

Appreciate the response. The shop which quoted out a new valve body said they had to add 1/2 qt to bring the level back up and that the fluid which was in their was “dark”. They specifically recommended a fluid drain and refill NOT a fluid flush. However they did mention it had a silicone pan gasket put in which means someone’s been in there. I’ve seen people who’ve had issues with their tcm similar to this, any suggestions on testing the tcm? I don’t have a plethora of fancy gadgets any advice appreciated. I plan on getting a new filter and swapping the fluid, if I brake something I’ll post it!
