Scotty, I recently bought a 2007 Toyota Matrix 127000 miles. Paid 4K It will crank for 5 seconds sometimes. It was in a small accident that the dealer didn’t tell me about, Sometimes it starts right up. Took it to the mechanic paid him 70 dollars for him to tell me it was normal but one time it didn’t start because the starter didn’t get enough power. Battery was checked twice along with throttle body, maf, air filter, fuel pressure,spark plugs and fuses. Car runs good when it is running. Ever since then it has still started hard ever 1in 5 times I start it. Maybe the computer?

I think the computer is the last piece on this puzzle. But when it's hard starting, if the battery is really good, then a fuel pump might be another culprit? But symptoms of a bad pump is when the car is used, and you try to turn it on again and it doesn't start anymore.
