In June 2020 I bought a 2007 VW rabbit with 20,500 miles on it for $5,800. I have driven it back and forth to and from work and various day trips. The most I've ever really driven it in one day is about 70 miles.
Is this tire difference a problem for my car?
I haven't had any problems with the car so far.
Also, did I get a good deal on my car?
What does this mean 15 91 ... 15 89 ?
Do these numbers have any units, or where did you get them?
load capacity. These are the tires fitted to the car when I bought it last year. Didn't notice the difference until today. (I believe the 15 91 or 15 89 represents how much air will fit in the tire, and therefore determine how much weight the tire could support.)
OK 15 is probably your rim size, right?
And the second number load index. Got it.
Well the difference between 89 and 91 is 77lbs... not a big deal.
Just don't set your coffee cup down on the side with the 89 tire. 😆
so in your "expert car advice" opinion...you don't see this becoming an issue/harming my car? Just anxious about it...
I don't know if I can be considered an expert. I am just using my own logic. Why would the load rating be an issue? Do you often drive the car while loaded to its maximum capacity? It just means one tire is every so slightly weaker than the others.
On the other hand I would be more worried about having mismatched tires. If you don't have matching wear, and tread pattern on both sides, that is going to cause instability when on rough or slick surfaces, rain , and braking.
well the lowest capacity tire load x 4 = about 1,200 pounds heavier than my car weighs. So, in that regard...I don't know how much of an issue it would be. The car is pretty jumpy and responds quickly. It is responsive and steers well.
Do you guys think i got a good deal last june when i got the 2007 VW rabbit w 20,500 miles on it for $5,800? Was that a good or bad or so so deal? I had a mechanic inspect it for a small fee before I bought it, who explained to me he thinks the car doesn't have any mechanical issues that warrant repair, and he believed the odometer reading to be accurate.
I think Volkswagens sold in N.America are awful junk, and would never buy one in the first place. Personally I would get rid of it.
It was sold in Virginia to me. But according to the Car's information/labels inside...it was "manufactured in Germany." It was SOLD in USA in 2020, but supposedly created in Europe.
might be OK then.
