Hello Scotty,
I was driving on the freeway one day, and the check engine light came on. I went back home and checked the code and it was P0125 and P0118. My research showed that I will need to change the Temperature Sensor. A few hours later, I wanted to start the car, and it would not start. I bought a new sensor from Advanced Auto Parts and changed swap the old one from the car, but the car stil did not start, and while attempting to start it the fan kicked on non-stop which indicates the engine was overheating. The temperature gage in the interior of the car stayed below the middle line, however, the fan kicked in almost immediately. I was able to pump the gas a bit and the car started and runs, but it runs rough, you can see the engine shaking. I cleared the code, and it immediately appeared again. The code at this time was P0118 and the P0125 had disappeared. Is it possible that Advanced part may not be ideal for the car? Please help Scotty. Thank you!
That's certainly possible, because new does not equal known good. Aftermarket parts, particularly Chinesium parts are often significantly below spec. You'd be better off getting a good used OEM from a salvage yard, IHMO.
