Hi, I have an ‘07 Tundra that violently shakes when lightly accelerating at 25-30 mph. it feels like driving over big potholes.
This only happens when accelerating, low throttle, between 25-30 mph, in 2wd, and is worse when going uphill. If I step on the gas more, it stops.
Possibly related, it shifts hard when downshifting to accelerate.
Some other info on the truck: 4.7L v8, automatic transmission, 130k miles, double cab long bed, just replaced valve cover gasket a couple months ago
any thoughts on what the problem might be or how to diagnose it? Thanks!
In 130,000 miles, how many times have the transmission fluid and filter been changed? It sounds like either a front suspension problem or a transmission problem. Have you checked the u joints for lubrication or play? They are probably 15 years old.
Thanks Doc,
I only got the truck about 10k miles ago, but I doubt the ATF has ever been changed. Do you think this is something I should get done now or is it too late?
For the u joints, they look ok to my non-mechanic eyes, and don’t have play when applying force to the drive shaft by hand. Do you know a good way to check for play?
