Hi. I have a 2007 Volvo XC70 5 speed geartronic Automatic Transmission. It has 138k miles at the moment. When accelerating slowly from a stop, or slowing down, when the transmission shifts into 3rd gear, there's more noise than the other gears on the shift. It's almost like a clunk. However, when heavy on the throttle or heavy on the brakes, the transmission doesn't make that noise even when it shifts into 3rd gear. Is this a sign of the transmission going out? Also, I've noticed that the transmission likes to be in a higher gear and allow the torque converter to slip. You have to get either somewhat heavy on the throttle or quickly press a little on the throttle to get it to shift into a lower gear. Is this just a Volvo thing with the torque converter? Are these "issues" related? What should I do?
When was the last time you changed the ATF?
Kerem, I am not sure. I got the vehicle used. It looks like the fluid was changed but looks like it could use a fluid change. Should I change it?
I work on those things all the time and yours has a classic signs of the transmission and or the torque converter starting to go out find a transmission pro to road test it with this dealer level scanner and see what he says. Change the fluid isn't going to fix that problem
