Please help with this issues.

Battery was dead when I got there.

Car has been sitting for a while.

I put a new battery on it.

As soon as the positive terminal touched the battery, the brake lights turned on and stayed on. Also you could here a constant ticking.

Furthermore. The push to start button indicated "locked" and I'm unable to switch the shifter into p r n d .

I'm attempting to diagnose it myself before bringing in the big boys.

Any ideas or would anyone care to share what I should do to continue troubleshooting this issue.

"The battery was dead when I got there."

Did you buy a car with a dead battery? I'm assuming private seller and you're looking to flip it?

Sounds like you have some electrical gremlins going on. Likely there is an issue with the anti-theft system which is causing your transmission lockout.

I hope you have a lot of time, a steady hand, and some hard liquor because chasing down the short is going to suck.

😅 thats a good one Mod man! Best advice I heard yet!

You are correct on your assumptions.

I also think it has something to do with the anti theft system. But I need to know how to bypass that. Or should I just take it to the dealer ? I paid 200$ for it.

Well, start looking for some shorts to ground. Take your time and look for any obvious signs of wire damage. Also, are you sure this was not a flood car? Lots of those on the market now due to all the severe flooding everywhere over the last 6 months.

I have started looking for wire damage . The car shows no signs of water damage .

I have looked everywhere on the internet to a similar issue but no luck.

This sure is a tough issue to fix.
