Hey Scotty! My name is Cheyenne, I just wanted to ask.. i have a v8 Nissan Pathfinder. It’s at a shop right now here in GA! The trans has been acting up a little during it shifting, it’s even not went into reverse a few times. The other day I was driving and heard a really loud pop in my car jumped so I pulled over and there was brown fluid all over the ground and my car was smoking. The mechanic said that my radiator sent backflow to my transmission so there’s water and coolant in my transmission. He says I have to replace both the radiator and the transmission.. he said they’re both ruined from it, is there anyway to wash the transmission out? I paid six grand for the car a month ago, and they’re saying it’s going to be $7000 to fix everything that’s wrong with it... I know it’s a longshot but I just wanted to know if he’s lying or if there really is a way to fix the transmission without having to replace it! But he just found all that out today, however a few days ago the problem was a circuitboard for the valve body I think, so he got the $1100 part ordered and he said he figured all of this out today when he went to install it. So now the circuitboard isn’t the problem in the transmission is? I’m just so confused and don’t know what to do, help would be so appreciated!! I love this car so much! The guy that sold it to me said he got it checked out before he sold it to me, but turns out he didn’t.. thank you!

Okay well if water got in the transmission and you were driving until it popped the transmission is shot you could try a used one from a salvage yard that's about your only option other than spending a fortune having a completely rebuilt.
I have seen them attempted to having been flushed before and it never works once the friction discs internally to the trans are contaminated they will never hold the fluid pressure and grab as they should again so unfortunately replacement of the transmission and radiator is the only way but I also recommend for pretty cheap you can add an external transmission cooler after and never have to worry about that happening ever again
