Hi Scotty,

I was looking for a used Toyota land cruiser with 150 k miles mostly dealer maintained for the first 10 years in Illinois. it's automatic 6 speed transmission and the mechanic did not find any codes. I have arranged a local mechanic to take a look and I found undercarriage was rusted and there was quite a lot rust underneath on the frame. the body has original paint but no signs of rust on the body. The coolant reservoir look empty but no signs of the leak. the dealer asking for $27 k and I want to use this daily for driving and weekend camping or going off-roading may be 15-20% of the time. the rust is my biggest issue. If I want to fix it do you know if it's worth it for the price and how much will it cost to fix the rust on the frame?

Thank you,

Sunil

Land crusiers are very good vehicles but rust is a reason to completly forget about it don't buy it look for a different one also seems expensive for one with 150k miles on it.

Hello!

Walk away from it. Once rust occurs, it spreads and weakens the frame. That is why I sold 18 years old Suzuki Swift this year. And coolant tank looks empty. I do not believe the engine is in immaculate shape. Did mechanics perform head gasket test? Or compression test?

I would look at something else.

Good luck!

Thank you

You are welcome and Merry Christmas!
