2008 XC70 vs 2021 V60 CC - Buy New Now or Wait?

Scotty,

Would you recommend trading in a 2008 XC70 w/ 108,000 miles for a new 2021 V60 CC?

Are parts being made in China for the 2021 model a concern, as well?

Thanks.

Maybe I should have added that the 2008 XC70 Tranny is perfect, there is paint / finish wear on the side mirrors, the brakes will have to be changed within 1-2 years (but who is driving now?) and the tires will have to be changed soon. I am just anticipating any more expensive repairs if I hold on to it. Any advisement / recommendation of experiences with the 2008 XC70 vs. buying the new V60 CC would be greatly appreciated. Again, my 2008 XC70 has 108K miles. Should I not expect more? The only major repair done before (under warranty) was the fuel tank had to be replaced due to a bad "measuring float" (of my own naming) where the gas tank and the fuel gauge were not giving the same reading. Bad thing for long trips, or even local driving for that matter.

Any help / advisement would be appreciated.

From my research the XC70 is a very solid built car and if the tranny is in good shape and it only has 100k miles what I would do is see what you can get for it. If you can get more than 5k (very likely in California, not so much in other places), then sell it. If you like the V60, wait a few year and continue driving the XC70, and then buy it when it is 2-4 years old used. That way you will maximize the life out of the xc70 and get a better price on the V60. Thats my advice to save a good 5-10 grand. Take it or leave it.

To give some insight. In my area your XC70 would go for $9000 so I would definetly get rid of it but I doubt you live in Northern California so you might get just 3 or 4. Scotty said the ones made in China have actually pretty decent quality but the thing is they are focusing on hybrid/electric cars so I would never pay $40,000 for a new Volvo. You can get a 3 year old one with 10k miles for just $20,000 it still has a lot of life left and only half the price. I would go used by far, or else I can not recommend you buy any new Volvo.
