Hi,
I am currently looking for a used reliable car around 5-6k. I checked out a 2009 Corolla today 105k miles around $5k. Was really in great cosmetic condition for its age. Did a thorough inspection and everything looked fine. Runs really smooth. No noises from any part. Had a couple of issues though:
I tested its AC at max but the cooling didn't feel like AC was a max. Also, the fan has a 4-speed setting. At 4 its runs fine. As I went from 4 to 3 it felt like it went from a 100 to a 30. At 1 and 2 I could hardly feel the fan running. What are the potential issues causing this problem. What could be the expenses to fix it? Is it worth considering buying?
Edit: It also recently had its fuel injector and ignition coil replaced.
Thanks
The AC not blowing fully cold could be a number of things. The weak airflow could be the blower motor resistor or the blower motor itself -
However, I’d avoid this Corolla if it’s one of the ones affected by oil burning. If yoyre serious about it, be sure to get a repair estimate for the AC cooling & blower issue, before you make your offer.
I know the 2.4 l AZ-FE engine had the oil burning problems. This one has the 4 cylinder 1.8 L. Were there oil burning concerns with that too?
