Hi I just found a 2010 Camry xle 140,000 miles 4 cylinder and made an America, The guy is selling it for $8500 is that a good price?

also add 140,000 miles should I be worried about engine issues? And how many miles should you expect issues?

thank you very much!

That's in the range of years where the Camry's 4-cylinder engine had oil burning problems due to defective piston rings.

How big of an issue is the piston rings? I don’t know a lot about mechanics

Bad enough that it brought about a class action lawsuit. Also, Scotty lists those engines in his list of models to avoid. Although it's mainly 2006-2009 models affected, 2010 models may also have the problem. There's plenty of info out there, such as:

Chuck is correct:  the oil consumption issue in the 4 cylinders really peaked for 2009 model year, but there were still some reports of it for 2010 model year (although no where near the numbers reported for 2009).  If it were me, I would look at a model year 2011 (also last year of that generation Camry) to be on the safe side, or get the V6 which did not have the issue.  See below for yourself:

Thank you so much! If I do get it checked out and it turns out that it’s fine do you think $8500 is a fair price?

To be honest, I have no idea what a good price is for many cars; it’s not my forte. I would start by looking at what prices are going for in your area for similar type vehicle.  Obviously in this crazy (strong seller’s) market, prices will be inflated.
