[Solved] 2010 Toyota Matrix Fuel Filter

Hello,

I have a 2010 Toyota Matrix 1.8l Base model. It has around 145600 miles on it. I have talked to mechanics and the toyota dealership to have them service the fuel filter, but all of them say that it is not serviceable. However, I have seen YouTube videos of the filter being changed out of the fuel pump assembly, though it looks a bit complicated.

I was wondering, it is worth it to actively change the fuel filter (either find a mechanic or watch a video on youtube of it being done and do it myself) or just live with it until the pump goes bad?

I am pretty ignorant on this, just trying to see what the best option would be for me to do. If I should replace it, which part number should I go with using Oreilly or autozone?

For your car, the fuel filter is a screen integrated into the fuel pump. If you use a good gas and you don't have problems with the car, just leave it alone. They are well built units and you do not have issues with them.

Alrighty, that is good info. I know almost nothing between what a screen and a filter is lol. I just remember Scotty in a video saying to have it replaced after so many miles, so trying to do my due diligence

My 06 matrix is sitting 2 blocks from my house because the fuel pump just went out. I would order the filter and replace it when the pump goes out like mine.  Mine has 186K miles on it. If you buy Toyota $$$$$ or aftermarket (not advisable) whole pump assembly it should come with a filter. If you buy only the fuel pump part, order a filter and do it with the pump. I bought all Denso parts from rock auto and also bought a seal ring, a filter sock, and a sending unit 220$.  But it looks like it's going to be a big puzzle to work on. Prices are getting so high lately.
