Anyone have thoughts on the VW Tiguans. Looking at buying a small SUV for the wife and found a private party selling a 2010 Wolfsburg edition w 63K miles on it for $9,500. Wondering if it’s a good deal and thoughts on Tiguans in general. Wife has a Jetta currently and loves it but just want something a bit bigger. Owner says nothing wrong with it but that’s expected. I would not buy it and certainly not for $9,500. Even though it only has 63K miles, it's still an 11 year old Volkswagen. Those 2.0L 4 cylinder turbo engines have many problems with carbon build up (among other things) as they age - odds are it's going to burn a lot of oil as you put on more miles, if it isn't already. If you want a smaller SUV, I suggest you look for a Toyota Rav4 - you can easily find them within that price range.
