I was just working on my mother in law's 2011 Honda CRV with 88k miles on it. It appears as though the transmission fluid was never changed on the vehicle. When I looked at the dipstick, the transmission fluid looked somewhat dark. I was wondering if it is already too late for me to replace the fluid on this vehicle. This vehicle has an in-line transmission fluid filter where there is one rubber hose on each side of the filter. If it is already too late to replace the transmission fluid, would it be okay for me to just change the filter? Or did I catch this issue early enough so that I can safely replace the fluid and the filter.
Thank you
Change it NOW.
Go ahead and change it. Just drain and refill. No flush.
who gave you the idea 88k was too late?
Possibly too late for an American car. With this, you’re just in time.
