My sister's 2011 Ford Escape when started cold or hot makes a ticking sound after about 5 seconds of running, it's coming from the far left side of the engine, checked to see if it could just be an injector ticking louder than usual but the noise isn't even close to the injectors, it's the 2.5L inline 4 and it has 124K on it, My 07 Ford Ranger with the 3.0L V6 has 169K on it and is quieter than her car. What could be the problem or problems and what can I do to solve it? Thank you

Maybe the valves? Check with a mechanic.
I'll first try Lucas Oil, Heavy duty type, and if the noise doesn't go away over time or gets worse than yeah we'll take it to a mechanic, but it could just be normal wear and maybe the thicker oil could help
