I have an 8th gen 2011 accord 4 cylinder with an automatic transmission. 185k miles No codes and I had a scan tool to measure trans temp during a 140 mile journey, trans temp stays at 185-195 going 75mph
I hear a single clunk noise when I shift from drive to reverse, I know the shifting sounds are normal but this clunk happens after the shift. The same noise occurs when accelerating and then decelerating below 2000 rpm’s and I hear the clunk. I don’t hear the clunk accelerating from a stop and if I hit the brakes and reach below 2000 rpm’s I also don’t hear it. Mostly occurs on a slow transition from acceleration to letting off the gas. I also hear it although rarely when I go from drive to park and I let go of the brake.
I took a mechanics stethoscope and tried it on top of the transmission, below transmission, pretty much anywhere I could access without jacking the car and just going behind the wheel and having someone shift from drive to reverse and I hear it coming loud and clear from the cv axle shaft.
Now I know the cv axle connects into the transmission but I’m hoping it’s just the cv axle joint, shaft etc that was just busted a little during the last time I jacked up the car and let the car down. But I thought I’d hear a lot more clicking. I also have all new wheels I got done a couple weeks ago. Trans fluid looks phenomenally red and the temp range I believe is good.
Here’s a recording I took you can hear it a couple times below 2000 rpm’s:

Here’s someone’s nissan that makes the same exact noise:
This one sounds like it too apparently another honda but only occurs when he shifts and then hits the gas while on brakes. :

I’m hoping it’s just the cv axle joint
if they're original then it's very likely
