Hello Scotty, I just purchased a 2011 Toyota Sienna AWD with 191k miles in it for 1500 dollars. Transmission got replaced with a rebuilt one. I hear humming noises and my mechanic says it is coming from the transfer case. Replacing the fluid and there’s like nothing left inside. My question is, is it still worth it to spend the money to rebuild it as that’s what my mechanic suggests. Thank you
What would a used transfer case cost compared to rebuilding. That might Help you decide if it is worth it.
@bc-st
Makes sense. Thanks man. But I mean based on the mileage and the price i got it. Would it still be worth fixing or just drive it until it drops?
Unfortunately rebuilt transmissions/motors do not last. You'll have to put a low mileage used transmission/transfer case in it.
@mrrangerzr1
Makes sense. So you think should I just drive this until it drops and just not rebuilding the transfer case?
Keep on driving it. Make sure nothing else is causes the noise.
Rebuilt transmission do not last and it won't be worth to replace it. I would use the car until the transmission bloes out then get a older Sienna for 3-4k or so.

But for the transfer case, do you think it is still worth rebuilding it? And how much do you think would it cost me?
