What do I do with my oil burner

Hey Scotty. I hope all is well. I am Steve. I have a question if I may, I have a 2012 Acura mdx and it burns lots of oil. About 4 quarts of oil between oil change. I brought it to the dealer. In Long Island NY, they made me go thru this whole oil consumption test just to tell me my car is not eligible for them to fix it for free and it'll be about $5,000 to have it repaired. What would you recommend for me to do at this point. (Or I can just keep adding oil until the engine die out) please help. Thank you!

If you are changing your oil at 5000 miles that's less than a quart per 1000. For warranty purposes most car manufacturers consider burning up to a quart every 1000 miles to be "normal". So even if the car were new they would probably not do anything - on a 10-year-old model they certainly won't. Are you sure that at least some of it isn't leaking?

Your best bet is just to top it up as needed, though if really burning that much at some point your catalytic converters will be poisoned.

Wow it burns more oil than the crankcase capacity and it's not eligible?? Did you ask them how much it would have to burn to be eligible?

I'm surprised at 10 years old if it would be eligible for any warranty extension at all.
