Hello Scotty, my name is Geovani and I am desperate in need of help. I have 2012 Dodge durango (Cytadel) 5.7 Hemi. This truck has drain me off, I do not know what else to do as the dealer as always don't know what the problem is. They replaced the starter, it cost me about 700 bucks and before that I did took it to a local mechanic that works on Dodges that also replaced the same thing for 500.
I have spend too much and yet the problem haven't been fix. So the truck goes crazy when driving it it starts wiper goin on and off the front panel also glows like a chritmast three and once you turn it off it will not start unless I hard re-set the car by connecting (+/-) to discharge everything so it can start the car. Some one told me it could be the fuse box and some one else told about the speed sensors that are on the tires. Before all this the alternator went bad and the towing guy tried to jump start it but it alternator got on fire after that the computer was replaced and after that is when it stated going all crazy. Please is there any advise you can give me? I will apreciate that very much. I leave in Arizona State and just move from California, I really do not know anyone out here.

Clarification: What is the mileage?

Your TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) ((underhood fuse box))  is going wacky.

The question is, what's causing it?

Is the TIPM defective, is it a Power/Ground Issue to the TIPM, or is it an issue with the Interior Data Network Bus?

I don't think you're dealing with a Power/Ground issue to the TIPM because in that case (most times) things Won't come on when they Aren't Turned on. (Most times) things Don't come on when they ARE Turned on. (Your wipers are coming on when they Aren't turned on).

This seems like either a faulty TIPM or a wiring issue with one of the twisted pair data network wires shorting to either power or ground and scrambling the signal to the TIPM. The towing guy caused the alternator to catch fire when he jumped it. What else did he "smoke"? Maybe some insulation on some "battery voltage" wiring in the harness that was touching network wires?

To illustrate, in this picture of a part of a wiring harness, you can see twisted pair data wires in contact with a red battery voltage wire in the harness. Everything is fine as long as everyone has their wiring insulation intact (and not burned off by a towing guy).

So you're in California (God help you). It's going to cost you money upfront (more in CA) to have this issue diagnosed but you'll save money in the long run.

Find an Auto Diagnostics guy.

Ask him specifically if he can hook up a scope and check your (interior) network data bus which controls your wipers When This Issue Is Happening and if he can pull up a wiring diagram and check the grounds (there's several on different TIPM connectors) and wiring at your TIPM.

He has to be able to do this at a minimum in his troubleshooting process.

If he can't, keep looking.

Don't forget, when you do find the right guy, His time is YOUR money.

It wouldn't hurt to keep a pencil and paper in the vehicle and the next time this happens make a list of all the things that still work and all the things that don't work.

Stuff like power windows and door locks. Any other interior controls, A/C, Blower motor, rear wiper, etc. Make a note if the lights work and which ones. Check if the horn works. Some of this stuff is controlled over the data network. Other stuff just gets a ground to a relay in the TIPM without the data network being involved. That kind of info can cut down on troubleshooting time.

@jack62 thank you for the information I will look for a diagnose see if he can help me out and like you said is all about finding the right huy unfortunately not everyone is as good or as accurate as you wish but this help knowing that it is a headache. I will make notes of everything else I can find and will suggest to start looking on the network data and go from there. Thank you so much I apreciated the help jack.
