Scotty, a relative of mine has a 2012 Ford Fusion 3.5L V6 and the engine does NOT shut off right away when you turn the car off and take the key out. It continues to run for about 5 minutes and then finally shuts off. So far they've replaced the fuel pump relay and the fuse. It doesn't have any trouble codes. The next thing they plan to try is throwing some STP fuel injector cleaner for GDI engines and spraying some CRC GDI Intake valve and turbo cleaner into the intake and praying that works.
If it doesn't, what should the next step be? I can't find ANY literature on this issue or what's causing it.
Has it been overheating at all? Also are you using an average scan tool or going with a mechanic level one?
No, it's not overheating. And it's a pretty decent scan tool. Reads transmission and ABS and all that. I need articles and forums of people with the exact same car with the exact same problem. Has less than 100k miles and doesn't get driven much either.
No need to be rude about it, if you want "articles & forums" google it. I'm just asking questions to try& assist you, have fun.
I wasn't being rude. My apologies, tone is very hard to express through the net. Usually with old cars there's just like one person out there that's seen it. Weird that I can't find any... I like puzzles and I'm not giving up. I will SOLVE this if I die trying. Haha.
