Greetings from Houston, TX. My elantra has 177,000 miles on it (original owner) and I've only had to replace 2 ignition coils. However, it has been acting up during starting. The first start of the day works great, but once parked for a short time (to run in the store for example) it always has to be cranked twice to run. The first attempt starts and the rpms look great, but immediately fall to zero. Is this a fuel pump issue? What are your thoughts? Also, what do you think of the hyundai elantra in general? Thanks

There may be a fuel accumulator in the fuel injection that keeps pressure up. If that goes bad you have to wait for the pump to come up to pressure. Just a guess as I have not owned or worked on one of those.

They're not terrible cars but the general consensus is not as good as most of the Japanese makes. They can last a while if you take care of them. A friend has a 2010 Elantra that he bought new. The guy maintains the heck out of that car and it's still practically like new. (Not as much mileage as yours though.)
