I am helping out my neighbor. His daughter is driving a 2012 Mercedes C250 140K miles and she stopped at a store and when she got back in the car, the car would not crank/turn. The car's lights turn on, the battery was tested and is good, but the engine will not turn/crank when turning the ignition switch. I also noticed when the ignition switch is turned, the steering wheel will remain locked. Reset the computer and checked the fuses under the hood and the trunk and the fuses are good. Tried to turn on the car and still no turn/crank. Help!!
The anti theft system in the car is still active. Use another key and if it does not work, you should ask a Locksmith, who works on cars, to make another key or take the car to the dealership.
Hello Yaser. We did try another key and still the same problem. We tried a different key and the dash board informed us that it was the wrong key. Before placing the key in the ignition switch, the center dash board displays the picture of the vehicle, the mileage and out side temperature. I am hoping maybe it is just a relay, but Mercedes does not have the fuse diagram on the fuse cover. I would like to try to get the car to start before taking it to the dealership.
Could be the immobilizer went bad. You will need a good scanner to check for manufacturer codes and if there is any codes in the immobilizer then that’s where I would start.
