Hello. I have a 2012 Volkswagen Routan automatic, and it has about 90,000 miles. I have a problem where it runs fine and drives well too; but when I go to start it, it cranks and it starts but then it stalls out and shuts off; and sometimes it only cranks and not start. What do you think the problem could be? I have scanned it and there were no codes.
EVERY CAR IS DIFFERENT. but, i had a similar problem recently. it was my map sensor. may i ask, did anyone worked on your car? did anyone else touch it? when your car stalls, do you see the red lamp symbol while the dashboard lights remain on? can you accelerate while parked and what is the maximum RPM THAT YOU CAN REACH WITHOUT getting close to the red line(warning do not get close to the red line to avoid issues). WELCOME TO CAR KILLER please we await your response, provide us with more data
@reddevil1321
At idle the car only goes to 3000 rpm and 6000 rpm is where the red line starts
check your map sensor
@reddevil1321
Alright, and do you mean check the voltage or something electrical on the sensor?
@reddevil1321
What I have done so far was clean the mass airflow sensor and the map sensor with the mass airflow sensor cleaner, and it has not solved the problem.
do you charge your phone inside your car port? if so, its a good idea, to disconnect all cellphone and no longer charger your phone this way. this is not the fix, this is just one of the many things that can mess up other stuff. have you done a compression test and have you check your catalyc converter compression? have you installed any new parts recently? IF so please let us know when was the last time you changed your oil filter? the oil filter can get clogged up after alot of miles and gives you those symptoms. again, start with the easy things first since they dont cost anything. keep us informed of any more data of your diagnosis. have you check your car with obd scanner yet??
Could be many things, but focus on testing the simple stuff first. Engines need three things to run.
- fuel: test pressure & injectors
- ignition: inspect plugs, and do a spark test
- air: sounds like you've looked at that.
Sounds like fuel related. Get a pressure reading on it.
