Scotty its Jesse again with the 2013 Chrysler 200... I remember you saying it's usually not the camshaft position sensors that failed but more than likely the timing chain is stretched, what could possibly make the timing chain stretch?

I’d replace the sensors and see if that fixes it. I had to replace them on my neon. Cheap and easy.

Not changing the oil enough or using the wrong viscosity leading to the pins and plates wearing causing it to stretch.

That's really strange because I change my oil regularly every 3000 miles or so with the recommended oil only

Have you owned the car since New? It could be neglect from the previous owner.

That's another thing, I've had the car for about 2 years... But the previous owner kept this car in presidential condition...absolutely 100% nothing was wrong with this car. no scratches no dirt, it's got every piece of paper that ever came with it, owners DVD, hard copy owners manual, maintenance history, accident history (zero accidents whatsoever) could it just be the fact the car is 8 years old, basic wear and tear causing the timing chain to stretch?

It could be. Chrysler is not know for their quality.

I specifically remember Scotty saying "form over function" 😂

And I know he can't stand a Chrysler

Although in general timing chains are much better than belts, some are poor designs that will wear excessively even if maintained. There have been poorly designed engines where the timing chain needed to be changed as frequently as 25K mile intervals!

Timing chains, like belts and hoses, stretch and wear out over time.  Especially because Chrysler uses the cheapest parts it can get.
