Scotty,

I'm looking to purchase a 2013 F150 4x4 regular cab with the 3.7L V6 with 33,533 miles for $20,500.  Is this a good buy?  Do the 3.7L V6 engines have many reported problems? Love your videos, and thanks.

The 3.7L Cyclone is a pretty well made and potent powerplant for its size. It puts out 300 horsepower and approximately the same torque. It was designed as the new V6 engine for the Mustang in the late 2000s. It delivers the same power output as the V8s in the early-mid 2000s Mustang. It does it all without turbochargers or direct injection, so it will not wear out like the silly 2.7L EcoBoost trucks. It has ordinary multipoint fuel injection. I have this engine in my 2017 Mustang. The weakest part of the truck will be the automatic transmission. Have it inspected to make sure that's the right mileage, and stay up on your transmission fluid changes. 30-60k intervals, no more.

Thank you so much Mr. Shepherd! 🙂

Not a problem, glad to help! I think it was silly for Ford to kill off the Cyclone. A local dealership wanted basically what that truck is going for, for a 2020 F-150 single cab shortbed with a V8 and 4×4, and 100,000 miles on the odometer. Insane Whenever my old Ranger finally gives out, I'll probably find either a newer Ranger, or an F-150 with that engine. I like the old school stepside trucks, which they don't make anymore, they made F-150s that way in that generation, but they're very limited with that engine, sadly.
