2014 camry transmission lockup

I have had my 2014 camrys transmission lock up 3 or so times when in 20ish degree weather. I reverse out of my parking space, put it in drive, then I will drive until the switching to second and a huge thud occurs and the car will then not shift up or down gears. The weirdest part is that all I need to do to fix it is turn the car on and off and the transmission shift totally normal. I am really curious as to what causes this to happen because it only had 63k miles on it and I wouldn't be surprised if everytime it happends my transmission is getting damaged from the initial rough shift. Could it be something with the cars computer?

If you have a 4 cylinder engine, you have the U760E transmission. The torque converter was manufactured incorrectly and will cause the transmission to eventually fail. Toyota did try to help by changing the computer software, but it doesn't solve the problem. Research the issue and ask a Toyota dealer if they will scan your transmission for free and tell you what is going on. I sold my 2014 Camry earlier this year before the problem developed. A new transmission is 5 or 6k. Good luck.

Should I sell the car?

Yup!

Unfortunately you bought a Toyota screwup. These are well known for their transmission problems and it's documented all over the internet. Always do your research BEFORE buying.

Should I sell the car?

That year model had known transmission issues, didn’t it?

I would get rid of it, while it’s still worth a lot of money, in today’s market.

scanned at a dealership and they said everything checked out fine.

Scotty, I bought a 2014 toyota camry se with the 2.5L which now has 64k miles. I have had some weird moments with the cars transmission locking up when I first drive the car in cold weather. It jolts the car and I have to turn my car off and on again or else it won't shift up or down gears. I got the car scanned at a dealership and they said everything checked out fine. I know the transmission is getting a worse reputation with its improper manufacturing. Should I sell the car?
