Should I trade my 2024 Maverick for a 2014 Venza?

Looking at a 2014 Toyota Venza LE FWD V6 - $15,998 - 78K Miles at a dealership and want to decide soon. I'm not a car expert but it drove great and I didn't notice any issues.

Took some pictures of the bottom, since this is in New Jersey, don’t see too much rust.

I currently have a 2024 Maverick XLT AWD, which I don't love. Would I be stupid to trade it in for the Venza...

I'm still financing the Maverick so after trading it in I would finance the Venza for $8,000. 1 have excellent credit score and history. So assuming my monthly payment would be under $200 versus my current payment of $393 for the Maverick. The thought of having a car paid off sooner rather than later is enticing. I know I can focus on paying the Maverick sooner as well, which I have been. But again, not in love with this car like I was with my previous 2016 V6 F-150 and 2007 V6 Camry.

Though the Venza is a good car with an excellent rep for reliability, a 10 year older car asks questions other than price/payment. How many miles on the Ford, and how much warranty time/miles are left? Any warranty on the Venza - even 90 or 30 days would make a difference to me. And then there's depreciation - 5 or 10 years from now, the Ford would have a lot more trade-in value than a 16 or 21 year old Toyota - depreciation is a huge part of the overall car expense - usually several thousand dollars a year.

That's quite a bit of depreciation and you will eat it if you sell that Maverick now. You just bought it within the last year, what changed from then to now? Any car that new is going to be upside down on payments and you will wind up rolling over leftover debt from the Maverick to the Toyota. You will have higher payments than if you were just financing the Toyota to make up for the depreciation of the Maverick. You won't have rebates, "customer cash", etc. to help absorb the rollover costs. I rolled over a little bit of debt from my 2013 Fusion that I bought 2nd hand into my Mustang that I bought brand-new in 2018 as a leftover 2017. I still have the car, 7 years later.

You're talking about two totally different vehicles. The Venza is an SUV and the Maverick is a "compact" truck. Did you anticipate hauling small things around, and now that's no longer a priority?
